The Kudu Canter is a 2 day Trail Running Event that the whole family can enjoy.  We are happy to look after your children while you enjoy our beautiful trails.

Kudu Canter is based in the foothills of the Northern Drakensberg on the historic Spionkop Dam, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban.

As the Kudu Canter trails are on our farm you will get to experience a touch of farm life (running amongst our Stud Brahman herd) as well as our single – track game and cattle paths.

Our trails take you around and even through the Spionkop Dam (we do have an optional swim section for something fun and unique!)

We encourage you to stop and take in these exceptional views of the dam.

In the evening, you can relax in a great atmosphere, share stories with fellow runners, and enjoy good music. We have a basic bar on site offering beers, ciders, wine, spirits, and cold drinks. You are also welcome to bring your own drinks.

Please join us for a great weekend of Good Vibes, great running,  family and delicious food.

The Route

Being situated on and around Spioenkop Dam we have the most exceptional views and tranquil surroundings. We would like to share our piece of paradise with fun-loving trail seekers and their families by hosting a two-day trail run.

As a passionate trail runner myself, I’ve carefully planned our routes to showcase the best views and scenic bushveld. We’ve worked to preserve the natural beauty of the terrain as much as possible. There is also an optional swim section on both days for those who enjoy a nice cool dip in Spionkop dam. The swim section is +-350 m.

New Trail routes are busy being thoughtfully planned, with fun and stunning views in mind! We will keep you all posted!

Location

Braithwaite Farm

The Braithwaite Farm, Linwood, is situated in Bergville on Spioenkop Dam and is a 5th generational family farm going back to 1920. The farm was originally on the actual damsite itself prior to the commissioning of the dam in 1972.

Spioenkop Dam, is a protected area, steeped in Anglo-Boer War history. Lying virtually at the foot of the Spioenkop Mountain which was the site of the bloodiest battles of the war in an attempt to lift the siege of Ladysmith 23-24th January 1900.

Whilst offering a serene environment, Spioenkop Game Reserve boasts a rich selection of wildlife amongst the thorn savanna vegetation. White Rhino, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and a wide variety of antelope grace these plains.
